Experiencing culture trip to IPOH

This is an experiencing culture TRIP to IPOH for 4 days. AT first, I am curious that why we can went to Ipoh for so many days since the place is just a small town and there is not much attraction. After finish the trip, i am thinking that it is not enough for us!

DAY 1
怀古楼Heritage house muzium gopeng
Before enter to Ipoh new town, we visit a heritage muzium located at Gopeng. Before you step in, it is like a shoplot with chinese style and historical feel design. The interior are displaying a lot of antique, old painting, old furniture......and at past there is also a barber shop and kopitiam inside it.

 Calligraphy

Quite admire those calligraphy, this is one type a the calligraphy that is start from old times.

This is the living area at the upstairs, it show their living lifestyle through the things they used. We call "BAIJIABEI" in chinese, mean the blanket is the wishes from thousand people, and the blanket is also will bring to married by the daughter.(Above is the story heard from elderly)

"BAIJIABEI"

This is one of the good design that is to trap the cool air inside the building. The courtyard full with plantation(we are able to see garden vertical at here), with a fish pond even a bird nest. The design make the cool air come in to house, it is fresh and cool!

The entrance of the museum is a contractible timber door.

The sketches of the museum

Entering to the musuem can make me feel the lifestyle of the ancient time. they having a barber shop inside, a kopitiam. Family or adults are gathering and having tea while chit-chatting.

After visit the musuem , we depart to another place---a pottery workshop
this is the outside of the shop

hand-made pottery in the shop

we choose one of the "un-finished" clay and carve it into our favourite pattern

After that we put it under the sun and let it dry
experiencing to mold the pottery, it seem easy but actually it is very hard to do.
The family (the owner) of the pottery shop earn money from the skill and the skill is actually not easy to learn. Feel admire to the potters.

My dinner for the first day in Ipoh: chicken sprout with rice.

The first day ending happily with nice great experience!

Ipoh is famous for the classic Cantonese breakfast of dimsum, so we do reseach before going to eat breakfast. There is two famous dimsum shop in Ipoh. We choose one of it and do our interview while eating. We go early in the morning before 8am, for shop name Ming Court Hong Kong dimsum. The seating almost full while we reach, but luckily there is still a place for four of us.
One of the interviewer (the worker in the shop) is introducing their dimsum to us

sesame sweet soup (tong sui), they say this kind of sweet soup is benefit to health

"DOU SHA PAU" with chrysanthemum tea

Our table is full of delicious various dimsum, there are many worker is holding the food and keep around

After finish eating we interview the boss who is seating at the counter. She is very kind that give us the other famous food of address and draw the map to us.

On the way going to flea market, we saw a pet shop, so we stop for a while.
Flea Market
here is a memory lane of Ipoh. In the flea market you can see that they are selling a lot of ancient hing, some of it you maybe got it as weel in your hometown! Even old magazine also they are selling. From those small small thing you can see that the culture of Ipoh.

matches box and old 'gramophone records"/ Long play is collected and displaying. From the yellowish old photo/advertisement on it, it is spreading the classical atmosphere. small pedicad(*beca) of model is displaying. From there can see that, in the old times, ipoh transportation is not that developed and the classical vehicle is bicycle or beca..... Ancient heavy iron is displaying, as i know i got one iron like that in my oldhouse, to "use" the iron, you have to put the coal into it. it is very heavy when holding.

Thean Chun Kopitiam

After visit the two famous "kopitiam", i can see that the shop is full of of customers, everyone is chit-chatting while having tea. Well the atmosphere is the typical kopitiam we can see as well in others place, but the a bit differences is in ipoh this small town, there are not much young people are working at here. Ipoh is not that develop as KL, most of the people I can see is tourists, and some is uncle aunty or elderly. And here is famous with delicious food is maybe because it is hand down from the old generation, and they are not going out to spread the recipe and open other branches like a typical businessman. SO, THERE are only one of their shop you can go and eat the food. It become so unique can people are coming for the food will remember it, this become my memory as well, memory while trying their food in the shop.

This is the way going to another building of Sekeping that is havent finish decorate.

There is an outdoor rooftop swimming pool

Before going back, we visit Kellie Castle, it is a nice place for photo shooting. The building is a Scottish style which is buillt by a British who has never lived in it It has hidden rooms and secret tunnel.
I think this was a quite interesting place to visit , I was dumbstruckby the view of magnificient structure. Inside the rooms, there is history fact written at there, but it was too long for me to read all, so i just took some photo and planning to read it after going back.

The old-look of the building make me think of the Melaka. It leave the trace of history  the building.
Close my eyes, I can think of the situation of war at here, the building have been destroyed, gradually there is no one staying here......gradually......until now....people treat here as a travel place and taking photo here.

After going back, they tell me there is ghost story inside the Kellie Castle...I feel creepy...
